We are always on the lookout for older European and American Cellos. If you’re not sure what you have, call or email us and we’ll help you. And if you need to ship it to us, we can help you with that too. We’re a small, customer-oriented, owner-operated shop that’s been in business for over 30 years. We pay fair prices, charge our customers fair prices, and put old cellos back in circulation where they can do again what they were made to do 50, 75, 100, 150 years ago: make beautiful music!
We have such frequent requests for good older cellos retailing in the $2000-$40,000 range that we have a difficult time filling them. We are always looking for consignment cellos in this range. We have a fast turnover average and charge a reasonable commission.

Baroque Conversion
We fulfill quite a few requests each year for cellos with a baroque set-up. Any cello can be set up for early music and we have had satisfied customers using new cellos for this: however most cellists prefer older instruments of which we usually have a good selection.
While we occasionally do full conversions – bassbar, neck reset, endpin plug, as well as strings. bridge, tailpiece and cut-down fingerboard, most serious early-music musicians have preferred just the bridge, strings and tailpiece conversion. These three items have the most effect on the desired sound and if the musician ever wants to change instruments, the cello is saleable as either modern or baroque. A cello purchased from us for baroque use will require an additional $350 for the setup, but will include the modern strings, bridge and tailpiece so that if resold, it is easily reversed to modern use.
