Tyrolean Cello, Early 1800's
Tyrolean Cello, Early 1800's
The label inside reads…Carlo Testore…and for many years the cello was thought to be just that. It was played for many years in a professional symphony orchestra: when the owner passed, her family lent it to her stand-partner who had always loved the sound. She passed more recently and the family of the owner is now offering it for sale. It is technically a 7/8 cello but you certainly can’t tell by its sound: wonderfully woody, complex, strong - you can hear the 200+years of age in the wood. The pegs are a unique, lightweight geared peg we’ve only seen one other time in our history. This cello is a rare find and we’re proud to have it in our shop. With a certificate by David Bonsey of NY.
